It is only very recently that I have come to understand what personal boundaries actually mean. Before that it was just an abstract expression that I could not really apply to my own life. Yesterday was one of those days when I felt the need to protect myself. To protect my newly found belief in the importance of my own self-care.
There is a tiger that lives in my stomach. When I feel treated unfairly or when someone asks me for a favour at work which makes me feel used and disrespected it awakens. The tiger roars and shows itself in all of its greatness and splendour. I do my best to wait for him to calm down, so that I can formulate my words wisely and not under the influence of intense emotions.
It feels really good to define and state my boundaries. I owe that to myself. It’s part of self-love after all. And it keeps the tiger happy 😊.
